Colorado gets $509M for education from part of stimulus plan - Denver Business Journal:

The money comes from the State FiscallStabilization Fund, which was created under the stimuluz bill. The money will be used to improve and monitorrpublic education, and Colorado will collectg and publish information on teacher quality, student college readiness and interventions with underperforminb schools in return. The state can apply for the remaininf $251 million for which it is eligibl inthe fall. That $760 millionm combines with $270 million in recover funding that Colorado is expected to get undee existing federal education formulas tototal $1.3 billio in stimulus education funding for the state.
Statew leaders have gotten another $140 millionm in funding for disabled or underprivilegex studentsso far, and they are expecterd to apply for some of the $4.3r billion being offered for educatiohn reform investment in the Race to the Top “By spending the money wisely, we can preserve critica jobs, ensure that more kids graduate from high school fullyu prepared to succeed in college and the workforce and furthere strengthen Colorado’s competitive position in the globalk economy,” U.S. Rep. Jarede Polis, D-Colo., said in announcing the monety in anews release.
Colorado has specified that atleast $452 million of the stabilization-fund money will go to public colleges and universities while at least $170 millioh will go to public schools.
