The Sendik’s Fine Foods opened in July 2008 near Highwauy 100 and Drexel Avenue and is ownefd byTom Balistreri. He also owns Sendik’zs Fine Foods in the BrookfieldTowne Center. Sendik’sd Fine Foods in Franklin will remain open until late July orearlh August, said Lori Barczak, who is the vice presidenft of operations. She declinef further comment. A second Sendik’s Food Marketg in Franklin, at 5200 W. Rawson Ave., is ownecd by another Balistreri-family group that owns groceru stores inWhitefish Bay, Grafton, Germantown, Elm Wauwatosa, Mequon and Greenfield. It is not impactedd by the transaction.
Vivian King, a spokeswomann for Milwaukee-based Roundy’s, said Tuesday the companh is buying the equipment and assuming anexistingt lease. She said the transaction will be completeds within 60 days andthen Roundy’ss will remodel the store with an opening planned for November. Roundy’s is encouraging Sendik’xs Fine Foods employees to appl for jobs at the newPick ‘n which will employ about 200 King said. Pick ‘n Save also has a storee at South 76th Street and Rawson Avenure in Franklin and pland to keep that location to serve the growinfFranklin community, King said.
