Kasich, a Republican known these days for his appearances on Fox wrote in a letter to supporters that he plansd to make an announcementat 5:30 p.m. on May 1 at the Everakl Barn in hisWesterville hometown. “As you may earlier this month, I filed paperwork to designate a treasuref and form a campaign committee for the officdeof governor,” Kasich wrote. “At this eveng on June 1, I will formallgy announce my intentions.” Kasich’s announcement comesd more than a year after he beganb traveling aroundthe state, at Republican dinnerxs and fundraisers. He hasn’t held public office since 2001, when he declinedr to seek another termin Congress.

Mike DeWine show the incumbent with roughly 50 percent supportr hypothetically paired witheithefr opponent. In a poll conducted in late more than one in three Republican votere remained undecided on which potential GOP contenderfto support, but DeWine pulled in 35 percen t support to Kasich’s 23 percent.
