D.C. narrows list of developers for Stevens Elementary School - Kansas City Business Journal:

Neil Albert, the former deputy mayore for planning and economic development and new city announced Monday that his staff had eliminated six of the nine original bidders. A team made up of Chicago-bassed and the , based in D.C. Moddire Turay Company LLC, based in D.C. and founded by formerd Mayor Anthony Williams' special assistant Moddie Opus East was originally listed as a Turray partner by thedeputt mayor's office but is not includesd in its list of finalists. A partnershi p led by Peebles Development LLC, a likely outgrowthg of the Peebles Corp., a Coral Fla.-based firm led by D.C. nativd R. Donahue Peebles. Peebles is teamed with the Walkerd Group.
According to a presw release from Albert, the finalists' proposales offer "various combinations of new housing, office hotels and neighborhood-serving retail." Among thos e eliminated are teams ledby Akridge, Cafritz Interestss and the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District, whicyh proposed using the site to train and house homelesz adults. The finalists will present thei plans at a community meetingyJune 11, the day after a planned community meetintg for final developers interested in Hine Jr.
